In the month that sees the coronation of King Charles III, another right royal event is taking place. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story sets to debut on Netflix on Thursday 4th May 2023, running a total of eight episodes.
A prequel to the runaway success Bridgerton stories, this series follows a young Queen Charlotte and her marriage to King George III as they roam through the fictional world of Bridgeton.

A highly talented cast of India Ria Amarteifo as the young Queen Charlotte, and Corey Mylchreest as the young king, fans of Bridgerton will be pleased to welcome the return of Adjoa Andoh as the indomitable Lady Danbury. Executive Producer Shonda Rhimes is back doing what she does best; creating captivating characters with rich and complex lives that are certain to keep viewers fixed.

Wilton House
Wilton, Salisbury SP2 0BJ
This beautiful grand stately home, given to William Herbert 1st Earl of Pembroke in 1542, is well recognisable amongst period drama lovers. It has also appeared many times in Bridgerton, standing in for Queen Charlotte’s extravagant throne room, and will no doubt make more appearances in the prequel. The opulent interiors can also be seen in productions including The Crown, The Young Victoria, and Emma. The Holburne Museum

The Holburne Museum in the centre of Bath is the townhouse of the much-loved character Lady Danbury and can be seen throughout the series. It is assumed that Lady Danbury is going to be a key player in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, so we can safely assume The Holburne Museum will appear again. The Holburne Museum, located in Sydney Pleasure Gardens, Bath, is home to many fine art collections including Gainsborough, Guardi, and Stubbs. Bath Assembly Rooms

At the centre of all formal social affairs, Bridgerton and by extension, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, love to throw a society ball. The 18th century Tea Rooms and Assembly Rooms are transported back in time to be used exactly how they would have been in the Georgian period, for socialising and making important societal connections. Who knows how many eyes have met across a crowded candlelit room, peering over the lace of a fan? When they were finished in 1771, the Assembly Rooms were described as ‘the most notable and elegant of any in the kingdom’. Make sure to check the website for information if planning to visit. We’ll have to wait until Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is released to see what other gorgeous locations in Wiltshire and Somerset have been used to take us back to 18th-century Georgian Britain.
