Join In The Roar At The Rec

Here at Toghill House Farm we’re always pleased to welcome rugby fans who come to Bath to soak up the excitement of a marvellous match at The Rec (short for Recreation Ground) – the home of the remarkable Bath Rugby Club.

Bath Rugby is woven into the fabric of the city. One of the oldest rugby clubs in the world (founded in 1865) it has a proud tradition of producing and nurturing top-tier talent while winning multiple Premiership titles and European trophies.

We’re immensely proud of our boys in their distinctive blue, black and white jerseys, and being part of the buzzing crowd on a match day is an experience not to be missed if you’re lucky enough to be in Bath on a home match day.

With spring in the air we’re looking forward to another cracking rugby season at The Rec with Premiership fixtures against Harlequins and Newcastle Falcons  scheduled for kick-off during March & April.

Bath Rugby’s Unique Central City Stadium

Matchdays at The Rec in the heart of Bath bring the whole city to life. There’s a sense of anticipation before the game, and plenty of partying afterwards at local venues – regardless of the outcome.

It’s difficult not to immerse yourself in Bath’s unique rugby culture when a game is scheduled at this historic stadium. The grounds are located virtually in the shadow of the iconic Bath Abbey tower, alongside the River Avon. From the stand you have an all-round view of Bath’s historic buildings and the surrounding rolling hills.

The Rec itself is not pretentious or particularly impressive – but with its old-school charm it is certainly one of the most atmospheric rugby stadiums in the world. On matchdays it is energised with the passion of Bath’s loyal supporters and the camaraderie they share with visiting rugby enthusiasts.

Plans are currently in the works (literally) to revamp The Rec to enlarge and improve it, but we’re pleased that it will remain where it is in the centre of the city in all senses of the word.

Being central doesn’t mean it’s hard to get to The Rec – in fact it makes it easier, because the grounds are just a short walk from Bath Spa railway and bus stations. By car it’s easy too because Bath has three Park & Ride services  situated on each side of the city to suit motorists arriving from all directions. Park for free and bus in to the city centre, with buses coming every 15 minutes or so for a 10-minute journey.

The Talented Bath Rugby Team

What makes Bath Rugby such a powerful drawcard is the quality of its players. The current Premiership squad includes international Rugby Union stars, so you’re guaranteed world class action on the pitch.

Keen rugby fans who follow the game will recognise some of the celebrated names that have graced the grass at The Rec on behalf of Bath Rugby Club over the years like Lee Mears (42 caps for England), Andy Nicol (23 caps for Scotland), Matt Perry (36 England caps and three for the Lions). And so the list of legends goes on, while more are waiting in the wings in the Bath U18 squad.

The Rec has hospitality deals and packages available if you want to turn your visit to Bath into a memorable sporting extravaganza for your family, friends or business associates.

If you’re a rugby fan inspired to visit Bath to immerse yourself in the great game don’t forget you can find a comfortable home from home with us at Toghill House Farm,  just a few miles from The Rec. While you’re here there’s so much more to see, do and discover in and around our beautiful World Heritage spa town, so we hope you’ll stay awhile.
