This summer, the Bath American Museum & Gardens takes you on a grand excursion through the sights and scenery of the vast, varied American landscape. American history and culture will be on full display within a special exhibition for summer 2024. The Bath American Museum is located at Claverton Manor, BA2 7BD and is a composed of a museum, exhibition gallery, gardens, stables & coach house, and American garden deli. The 125 acre museum and gardens feature beautiful wide-ranging views of the Cotswold Countryside.

From June until September, the American Museum & Gardens in Bath hosts the Road Trip exhibition. This tells the story of the origins and stories behind the cultural phenomenon of the American Road Trip and transports you along the journey of Route 66 and greater American surroundings. The trip features an immersive gallery of photos, music and neon-lighting effects, you can experience a series of interactive spaces to explore different aspects of the iconic adventure.

The showcase features billboards displaying the diverse history and culture of the American road trip, large-scale travel games, theatrical sets, various American road-trip mementos, an original 1958 Harley Davidson Duo Glide motorcycle, and favourite examples of the American road trip in popular culture.

Visitors will be able to assemble a classic scene for a fun selfie in a theatrical car set, get up close to a 1958 Harley Davidson Duo Glide motorcycle, and navigate the USA via interactive dashboards featuring stunning landscape photography from America’s National Parks and beyond.

Surrounded by inspiring stories, imagery and objects from the road, exhibition road-trippers will be encouraged to add their own American road trip wishes or memories to the displays. This original exhibition will be on show in Bath at the American Museum & Gardens from 9 March to 31 December 2024.
